Dear family and friends of Livingston United Methodist Church,
We are still in the process of figuring out exactly how our church will adapt and respond. Every day we see reports and statements and the strong trend is toward more social distancing. The East Baton Rouge Parish Library is open (!) but closed to the public. Providing services that do not involve patrons entering the building. That is a good model for the church right now.
Schedule changes
No Bible study at the church or Kids for Christ until further notice.
We will not have Sunday worship this week. Many many churches have suspended “in person” worship gatherings.
We have not yet figured out what to offer instead. At the very least prayer + Scripture + sermon online. I can do that from my home. Maybe live stream a service from the church led by a small crew of 3-4 people (many churches are doing this). By the end of the week we will send another email (and post on website + social media) what that will be and how you can access it.
I probably will lead a prayer service online. Not sure exactly what or how. Similar to the Saturday evening prayer service a few weeks ago.

I am still working on how we can use technology for prayer and worship and ministry.

- Believe it or not we have a Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHA8BUvSIMXxF0J21WPe1TQ (in progress) which we will use soon.
I know not everyone in our church family has internet/smartphone/computer access.
We now have a text messaging service. Add yourself to our list.
Speaking of technology I created a Remind account for our church. Which means we can start sending text messages to every phone number on our list. You can help us create our list!

I created two other lists but that is enough for now.
I plan to send an email update every day or two to help us navigate this unusual time. I also plan to post regularly on Facebook and social media. The first priority is to activate our lines of communication.
